post #31 EVEN WHEN I'M DEAD I'LL WANT A CUPCAKE

post #31 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project

Officially my FIRST stencil =D I thought I would decorate my sketchbook. I wanted to incorporate the elastic and I am quite pleased with the results. I am always very nervous about dealing with paint but since this wasn't a complete failure I feel like I may try more projects with paint.

also I am proud to say that I have completed one FULL month of posts for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY. I'm not going to lie, it's been tough mainly because I'm just SO lazy! okay just 11 more months to go...

reconstructed purse

I bought this pillow from IKEA a few years ago because I loved the fabric. I had since then wanted to make it into a purse. I don't know why it took me SO long to actually make it =) But I'm glad it's done!

I did not use a pattern for the purse I just kind of made it up. It was a huge pain. maybe next time I will use a pattern?

post #25 Drip Drop My Heart Falls Apart

Post #25 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project

I wrote this poem today at work and had an idea of how I wanted the drawing to look like. But here is the problem--I cant draw! This piece took me close to 2 HOURS to complete. I wish of all the talents in the world, that drawing was something I could be gifted with...

I plan on donating this piece to OKC's Money Talks, Art Walks event that is approaching soon!

items used:
paper
colored pencil

post #24 Nevermore...will i go without lunch

post #24 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project

I'm tired of not eating a decent lunch at work. My mom gave me this "oklahoma census" lunch bag and I decided to dress it up a bit. I'm a little obsessed with Edgar Allan Poe and thought it would go well on my lunch bag. my sandwich is made and ready to be toted to work tomorrow in my new lunch bag!

NO MORE!!!!!!

When I wake up I shall start my long talked about Zombie project!! It
involves felt, a shadow box, a sexy poem and years of adapting to the
role of a geek

I hope it becomes everything that I have ever hoped it to be but
coated with passion of the zombie vibe.

That is all. Good night my sweets...

post #22 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project.

No, not suicidal, I just thought of a creepy way to display the "cut here" symbol. My friend Barb ( the holder of the scissors) was amazing and suggested holding scissors to my wrists for added effect.

Thank you Barb =)

artwork by Bill Zorn. Thank you!

post #21 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project

I wrote this poem today and I felt like it needed a creepy picture to accompany the creepy poem---THANK YOU PHOTOSHOP!

I'm very very very new with photoshop so take that into consideration lol. I did find that I had a much easier time with it. Slowly I am getting more comfortable with it...i think?

Anyway I used my eyes and mouth to photoshop that image in. creepy huh?

x_X

oh yeah...remember that?

For those of you that used to follow my old blog tarzioo...

I put part of it back up. I had a lot of complaints from people that wanted my knitting patterns and since I had my ravelry, flickr, craftster and instructables sites linked to tarzioo, I can understand how it would have been frustrating. I didn't delete anything from it, I just put it all in hibernation. I sort of picked out the posts that i wanted put back up. I may go back later and put more up? Or maybe I'll just merge these two together? not sure yet.

The reason i changed blogs is no longer relevant. I have since made my peace with the issues that caused this diversion. I'd rather not dive deeper into it as I have worn out my frustrations over christmas break. I had made my last efforts in repairing any type of resolution over my "friends" that i've known for several years. I just came to a point where I was too irritated when around them rather than now, with zero contact. Sometimes you just need to look at your life and be selfish. Am I unhappy? well let's fix that because it's NO ONE'S job to ensure that you're happy. Even if you've known the same people for years and years, if it grows into something that makes you a bitter ass bitch, then something needs to change.

I'm happier now. I can actually say that and believe it.

whew!

Shyguy Decor

Hello!

I had been wanting to stitch something on this hoodie for quite some time now! And anyone that knows me, knows my sick obsession with shyguy. i ♥ him!

I stitched this free hand with no tracing. I just eyeballed a shyguy sprite and tried my best to keep the lines looking even. 2 hours later and...ta da! finished =)

post #19 THE INTERNET IS STALKING ME

post #19 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project

I plan on making a series with this concept of the internet showing up in odd places. =)

x_X

Cd swap

I recently participated in a cd swap with my co-workers daughter. I
must say that whenever my co-worker would say that I reminded her of
her daughter I never gave it much thought. But after meeting her last
week, yeah I am definitely see it. I think it was maybe after our 5
min conversation that consisted only of quotes from movies! Awesome!

Okay so in the swap I received the soundtracks for "whip it", "
American beauty", "donnie darko", "marie antoinette", and a lovely
mixed cd.

I gave her the soundtracks for "500 days of summer", "the royal
tenenbaums " and various mixed CDs from my own personal collection.

The conclusion? Our music taste isn't quite in sync but who's is? I
think we planned on swapping more? I'm happy.

POST #18 A Penny For Your Thoughts

post #17 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project

I had an idea to crochet a gun. turn something completely harmless--yarn, into a killing weapon. a little twisted but all in good fun. My roommate was kind and modeled for this photo. BIG THANKS!

detached for a reason

I apologize for not adding much emotion to my posts. I've been somewhat detached from blogging. I think it's because I've been pouring all my efforts into my flickr MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project. At work, my mind used to wander, causing me to write depressing poetry. In a way I feel relieved that I can finally stray from that mindset. It sickens me to be honest. Now that I must produce one "decent" photo for my flickr project, my mind stays focused on that. I find that my mind gets very in depth with ideas that most find weird/confusing. This is okay though. My flickr project is more of a device to force my mind to grow with new pathways of creativity. It also forces me to stop being so god damn lazy! WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT INDEED!!!

You Can't Erase the End

post #15 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY

materials used:
eraser
paper
markers

I thought this up today and my original thought was to write "sinner" on the eraser and have the caption read "you can't erase yourself." I refrained from doing so as I feared that it would have reflected some christian message which is not a point that I wanted made at all.

So, here is the redesign. Basically it states that no matter your efforts, you can't erase your end. Be it by relationships, careers, self criticism, etc. It's written in ink and can't be changed.

Post #14 You Know You're An Addict When...

...the letters from the keyboard are plastered to your fingertips!!

post #14 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY PROJECT

I planned this out and in my head it seemed simple enough...WRONG! First of all there was NO gray pen to match the gray keyboard lettering so my roommate wrote on my fingertips while i smudged off the harsh black color. I then photoshopped the selected letters off the keyboard through a vigorous cut and paste method as I am still unskilled to do anything else.

side note:yikes! photoshop! i'm terrible at it! Stop! don't look too close you can definitely see all the errors!!)

Thank you to my roommate who without her help I would have been unable to write on the letters and take this photo!

falling through

Post #12 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY

Inspired by the song "1901" by Phoenix who is actually singing "fold it, fold it, fold it" rather than what I believed to be "falling, falling, falling"

yep. did you learn something today? cuz I sure did lol.

In retrospect I would have used a different color instead of yellow. Overall I am pleased with the results

the truth of it all post #11

Okay maybe this is a little weird, I admit that. I do want to be expressive with my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY photoset. I want to try and work outside of my normal thinking and try new ideas. Forgive me if it's a little off.

x_X

mmm yes!

I've had this song stuck in my head ALLLL day! yes it's from New Moon, but it's Thom Yorke! so take it for what it is. an excellent song!

post #10 for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project is a beanie. What can I say, it's cold here in Oklahoma so I'm definitely going overboard with winter wear! My iphone doesn't show the exact color of this yarn. it is a light yellowish green color. The skein labels it lemon grass.

I found the pattern here

striped beanie

among my many projects, I managed to get this done. I originally started it a few days ago but didn't get it completely finished until 2 days ago. I remember watching "Lost in Translation" while knitting this. good times!

I knit this with 2 strands of yarn at the same time so it was knit super quick! I attached the flower that i needle felted a few days ago. I love this hat! it is SO SO SO SO warm!!

pattern found here here

my #7 post for my MAKE SOMETHING COOL EVERYDAY project---a luscious beanie!

I found this pattern on ravelry by Julie Weisenberger. The pattern was incredibly easy to follow and I enjoy the finished product. I whipped this hat out in 1 day which is perfect because the weather here is COLD!

I made a paper knife using cardstock and tape. I used yarn to show gory blood.

I probably could have taken this to a further, gross and icky level but I thought that would take away from the presence of the paper knife and thus the theme--paper cut.

I hope this made you smile in a weird way =)

For my #4 post for my MAKE SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY project I made an origami frog.

I had this idea of a "from 2D to 3D" photoset for sometime now. I think I will expand upon it throughout the year so stay visual! be excited for I am!

I honestly don't remember where I learned to make the origami frog. I started making them in 3rd grade and I used to make whole family of frogs and carry them around in origami baskets that I also made. I was a sad sad child haha

post number three expressed through poetry...ah ha

It took me about 5 minutes to write this poem but about 30 minutes to pull out the red writing.

I think tomorrow I may explore the world of origami...exciting!

Grandpa

I never really knew my grandpa that well. I do know that he was a well respected Kiowa man that fought to keep our indian traditions alive. He was one of the few that went to congress to defend our use of Peyote for our native american church. He made many many friends and ran many peyote meetings.

What I do remember is that he never referred to me as Taraneh, but as Boyoma. My indian name that he picked. Among his many talents was his ability to paint. I wish that I could have known him now because I think he would have been impressed with my beading. I hear that's one area he was unable to really grasp =)

here is a painting that is hanging at my grandma's house

new year.new plans

Okay as I have mentioned in the past, I am going pro on flickr. Very few things can actually inspire me, but after viewing LaserBread's "make something cool everyday" photo set, I feel the need to tackle this same project. I hope to be successful with my posts and although I do not have anywhere near the same talent level as this guy, I hope that I will continually improve throughout the year.

Here is a link to my flickr photo set make something new everyday

So, here is post #1
